11San Gimignano, Tuscany
Known as the “Medieval Manhattan,” San Gimignano is famous for its skyline of medieval towers that rise above the Tuscan countryside. During the Middle Ages, wealthy families competed by building taller towers as symbols of power and prestige. Today, fourteen of these towers remain, creating one of Italy’s most distinctive landscapes.
Visitors can wander through historic squares, admire well-preserved churches, and enjoy sweeping views over vineyards and olive groves. The town’s atmosphere is particularly magical in the early morning and evening when day-trippers have left.
