Known as the “Medieval Manhattan,” San Gimignano is famous for its skyline of medieval towers that rise above the Tuscan countryside. During the Middle Ages, wealthy families competed by building taller towers as symbols of power and prestige. Today, fourteen of these towers remain, creating one of Italy’s most distinctive landscapes.
