3Pitigliano, Tuscany

Carved dramatically into volcanic rock, Pitigliano appears to rise directly from the cliffs beneath it. This striking hill town has earned the nickname “Little Jerusalem” because of its historic Jewish community.

The medieval center is a maze of narrow alleyways, ancient buildings, and hidden courtyards. Its unique setting and rich cultural heritage make Pitigliano one of the most fascinating towns in central Italy.
